EVALUATION OF MEASURES FOR DIAGNOSIS, TREATMENT AND CONTROL OF SPOROTRICHOSIS IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF VITÓRIADE SANTO ANTÃO-PE

The increase in sporotrichosis in animals and its transmission to humans has been increasingly observed, especially in the Northeast region of Brazil, where the disease presents an epidemic profile and significant challenges related to diagnosis, control, and treatment adherence. This study aimed to analyze the epidemiological situation of feline sporotrichosis in the municipality of Vitória de Santo Antão, Pernambuco, as well as to evaluate the strategies adopted by the local Health Department to address the disease.This is a descriptive study with a quantitative approach, based on the analysis of secondary data referring to the years 2022, 2023, and the period from January to April 2024. The results showed an increase in the number of cases over the years, with 347 records in 2022, 507 in 2023, and 135 cases in the first months of 2024. A high rate of treatment abandonment was observed; however, there was a proportional improvement in the number of clinical recoveries in 2024 (25.2%) compared to 2023 (8.9%).Additionally, an increase in reinfection rates was identified, rising from 1.2% in 2022 to 9.6% in 2024, indicating possible failures in treatment adherence and clinical management. Health education actions and professional training showed results compatible with a possible positive impact, especially in neighborhoods with higher disease incidence, contributing to greater public awareness and strengthening surveillance actions. It is concluded that, despite the observed advances, important challenges remain, requiring the expansion of control strategies, with emphasis on early diagnosis, treatment adherence, and integration of actions within the One Health framework.
